My three favourite things are baking, card making and general craft works. I have been making cakes and baking bits and bobs for as long as I can remember. My cakes have gone through several phases over the years (from being rock hard to flat out sinking in the middle to having raw batter in the 'cooked' cake) however, with perseverance and a lot of wastage, I can safely say that I make the best tasting cakes.
In my younger years, I made several different dishes from the Miss Williams' Cookery Book. I must admit, I hoarded that book like it would expire, however it has since gone missing (anyone know where I can find another copy?) as I would love to have it in my archives.
In my spare time, well most of the time really, I enjoy mixing and matching several 'strange' ingredients in order to create something new and different (by the way, they always turned out good). I think I just don't like the idea of eating the same thing over and over again. As a result, I became inventive with ingredients. I enjoyed cooking and baking so much that my brother and his friends always enjoyed receiving 'food parcels' in the post back when he lived down south. My sisters were not left out as they enjoyed getting cakes too. Those were the good old days, oh! how I miss them so, but posting those items was dang expensive!!! I would do it again though.
In recent years, I find myself wanting to dabble into the world of cake carving and decorating. I am what you know as a 'budding' cake decorator.
This blog is all about my three favourite things but would focus mainly on cake decorating. I would like to share my experiences with you by taking you behind the scenes of trying to teach myself to carve and decorate cakes in the hope you pick a thing or two along the way.
I would be sharing some tried and trusted recipes with you and hope that I can receive some recipes from you too.
Happy caking.
One Fact about me: After completing my BSc in 2002 and not wanting to work, I became a perpetual student and in 2013, I earned a PhD in Economics.
Like many African women, I often cook without a recipe and more often than not, I end up not having a 'go to' recipe if I need to cook the same food again. To deal with this dilemma, A had considered installing a CCTV in the kitchen.
